"Built by the KaDeWe architects Boswau & Knauer and completed in 1906, the house was used as a theater and concert hall. The theater had 1,108 seats and in the front part of the building was the Mozart Hall, which was completely clad in mahogany wood and was intended to appeal to the imperial court and the wealthy middle class with its pompous furnishings.

As early as 1911, the Mozart Hall became a cinema and in 1927 Erwin Piscator reopened the theater under the name “Theater am Nollendorfplatz”. It was equipped with the most modern stage in Europe at the time.

In 1977 gaming operations were stopped and a discotheque was established for a long time. In the late 1980s, the Metropol was one of the most famous discos in Berlin with its unique laser show. Celebrities also had the honor here: Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys), Derek William Dick alias Fish (Marillion), the collapsing new buildings and Bela B. (the doctors) were welcome guests.
Concerts often took place during the week: Depeche Mode played their first Berlin concert here for their debut LP. The human league, OMD, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Front 242 and other musicians also performed here.
In 2000, the taboo-breaking KitKat Club moved into the Metropol.
