Then the intro tape starts and the stage is wrapped in mystical light and a rumble of thunder can be heard. You can literally feel the crackling in the crowd in the garage, the people are hungry and finally want rock'n'roll again! And that's exactly what the DEAD DAISIES deliver to us in the next 90 minutes. It's amazing how this band has evolved over the past few years. Starting with a kind of all-star project with a few cover songs, the set now impresses with top-class original material that is incredibly successful. With the legendary GLENN HUGHES on board, the band has found a whole new way to revolutionize their style. Brian Tichy (Ex-WHITESNAKE), who meanwhile serves the drums, fits in perfectly with the band, I won't have to say much more about Doug Aldrich, seldom is someone so sympathetic and playful. On the second guitar is also tonight Yogi, a friend of the band, who is standing in for the sick David Lowy. In contrast to yesterday's appointment in Luxembourg, this one is much more active today and obviously feels great. The band did an excellent job putting together the setlist, only four of the sixteen songs are covered if you count the DEEP PURPLE numbers, which GLENN HUGHES was involved in, as covers. “Midnight Moses” and “Fortunate Son” are definitely covers and are performed excellently. The rest is skillfully put together from the previous retrospective of the DEAD DAISIES. The focus here is on the current disc “Holy Ground”, from which the groove monsters “My Fate”, “Bustle & Flow” and “Unspoken” are played in addition to the title track. I have to admit that I like the numbers a lot better live than on record. The songs have an incredible amount to offer and many details can only be recognized if you listen very carefully. The bass sound that the good Glenn drives that evening puts it up a notch again, unbelievable. But otherwise the DEAD DAISIES don't let themselves be shabby and present their material excellently, except for “Mexico”, which has never been one of my favorites, the setlist is well put together. Glenn Hughes also presents the older numbers such as B. the strong concert opener “Long Way To Go” really well, and so you miss John Corabi with a laughing and a crying eye. Glenn makes a surprising number of announcements that evening and announces, among other things, the band's new album, which should already be on our turntables in six weeks. Rarely have I been more excited about something, precisely because “Holy Ground” has already been so successful. Plus I can't get enough of praising Glenn's vocals. That he can still sing so well at his age and after his history is just incredible. It's not only on the DEEP PURPLE numbers that he reaches unimagined heights and only leaves the audience with grins and amazement. His extremely white (new) teeth are sometimes a bit irritating, but that shouldn't bother you too much. Doug Aldrich was born for the stage and plays his guitar so entertainingly that you almost don't want to look away when he dashes wildly across the stage. With many the posing looks a bit fake, with Doug you can clearly feel that he is having a lot of fun with it. He also integrates Yogi very skilfully, and the overall impression is that the band is having a lot of fun together. It's not just any band project on stage here, but the DEAD DAISIES, who see themselves as a genuine band, and you can feel that in the audience. After the grandiose conclusion with “Burn” I have to recover a bit, Glenn Hughes pulled out all the stops and leaves me almost speechless. If you look around the hall, you can see that other visitors feel the same way. A great concert by a really great band. Let's hope that this will stay with us for a long time and that it won't be like BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION. Now I'm looking forward to the band's next album and I hope to see them live with David Lowy next time. If you get the chance to watch THE DEAD DAISIES, you should definitely take it. Rock fans will get their money's worth here. Even more so after such a long break. (Pascal) " - https://neckbreaker.de/live/konzertberichte/13158-the-dead-daisies-bad-butler-23-06-2022-saarbruecken
