"Founded in 1977
Juan Heredia, “Juanillo” was the son of the legendary dancer Antonia “la Gallina”, one of the artists that Vicente Escudero chose for his tour of North America during the 1930s. He began his artistic career as a guitarist in the zambras of Sacromonte, accompanying the most outstanding artists of the time. Above all, it is worth highlighting his staunch defence of Sacromonte as a cultural and artistic neighbourhood, which he always valued, continually denouncing the neglect to which it was subjected by the institutions (his episodes of protest against politicians are well-known). He always publicly expressed his support for the rights of gypsies, which led him to found and promote the gypsy associations “camelamos naquerar”, “Sacromonte histórico” or “unión romaní”." - https://cuevaventaelgallo.es/historia/
"The VENTA El GALLO flamenco restaurant is here to offer you a flamenco show full of feeling, purity, and color and, if your clients so wish, to taste our traditional “Granadina” cuisine.
Where we will delight in the authentic “ZAMBRA GITANA” dances in our comfortable caves.
It has been the scene of the most important historical flamenco events in our city, and illustrious artists have passed through “CASA JUANILLO”, including Camarón, Paco De Lucía, Remedios Amaya, Enrique Morente, members of The Rolling Stone, where they improvised concerts during endless evenings.
We will be doing what we are most passionate about: working to offer you the best memories of Granada." - https://cuevaventaelgallo.es/espectaculos-flamencos/
