"Why locals love it
Opened since 1993, it’s a mandatory stop of Lisbon fado’s circuit, for consecrated artists as potential stars or simply for anyone that feels the need to sing a fado accompanied by the sound of Portuguese guitar.
Why you should visit it
Recovered from an old tavern, framed by dozens of paintings, posters, clippings and tables and benches that are not enough for everyone that wants to hear a fado. If you want to hear some Fado Vadio (Fado that is sang by non professionals), show up on Mondays and Wednesdays." - https://www.likealocalguide.com/lisbon/a-tasca-do-chico
"Tasca do Chico opened in 1996 in a space that used to be an olive and sausage warehouse. Francisco Gonçalves is passionate about Bairro Alto, where he has lived since 1972. With the help of his friends, his Tasca has become an obligatory stop for amateur fado enthusiasts.
Although the kings of the night are the amateurs, there are many professionals who visit the Tasca after the professional fado nights in the fado houses where they perform every day have long since ended. Accompanied by the instrumentalists, many artists cannot resist singing, invited by the party atmosphere. And the night always ends late, very late, carried away by the atmosphere and sharing that reigns.
