Seebühne, Bregenz, Austria 🇦🇹, Dismantling of the Stage

"Dismantling of the stage set of the Bregenz Festival will last until the end of October

The first step will be to dismantle the approximately 300 loudspeakers used in the "Freischütz" stage set. In addition, all spotlights must be removed and cables removed, explained Wolfgang Urstadt, Technical Director of the Bregenz Festival. Everything that can be reused will be secured. Costumes and props are usually sold off. Then, the chainsaw and grinder will be used.

Up to 60 employees are involved in the demolition of the stage set, which cost a total of around eight million euros, and is scheduled for completion by the end of October. Construction of the new stage set for 2026 and 2027 will then begin in the festival's assembly hall." SWR - https://lnkd.in/dpfXqxvu.

"Technical equipment is being dismantled

Around 60 people are involved in the dismantling process. 66 loudspeakers alone were installed as part of the stage set, along with kilometers of cabling and large, hydraulically operated elements. To make way for the next opera production, all of this equipment must be professionally dismantled and stored.

"Because, of course, it's always different," explains Matthias Zuggal, the deputy head of the lighting department. "Every production has a different lighting design, a different concept. Different types of spotlights are used, and they are positioned differently. The requirements for the stage designers are also completely different, since the stage set looks different each time. So, it's designed anew every time and requires different equipment. That's why we can't just leave it all in place."

"It's always a complex undertaking"
Construction of a new, spectacular set is scheduled to begin as early as the end of October. "It's always a complex undertaking, and La Traviata will be no exception," reveals Urstadt. "It will look completely different. The overall impression will be something entirely different from what people have seen here during the last two years with 'Der Freischütz.'"" - ORF - https://lnkd.in/dhQqga7f
