In only two years since the band’s inception, they boast a host of local residencies on the highly competitive New Orleans music scene. The band consists of Jon Roniger (singer/songwriter, guitar), Brendan Michael Bull (drums, vocal), Evan Paydon (bass), Russell Ramirez (trombone, vocal), and Jon Bauer (trumpet, vocal). For 200+ shows a year, Jon Roniger and The Good For Nothin’ Band tour nationally and internationally. "Maniac World", their first LP garnered rave reviews. "New Orleans based five piece The Good for Nothin’ Band practically crackle with chops on each cut." (Lydia Hillenburg, Vents Magazine). "There’s something to satisfy every sensibility. This is an outfit with a boundless future." (Michael Saulman, Gashouse Radio). Their sophomore effort "Second Shot" is due out in November 2017 and already has local festivals, venues, press and listeners begging for a taste. PRESS "Jon Rongier and his cohorts have fused often surprisingly poetic and image-filled lyrics with the melodic and highly stylized textures of Dixieland jazz and Delta blues. While it may sound effortless, the band practically crackles with chops on each cut.” — Lydia Hillenburg, Vents Magazine (Oct 14, 2016) "Everything about this unit is steeped in the history and environs of the Crescent City with a roar of tradition, conviction, and an unquenchable thirst for new wine in old bottles. There’s something to satisfy every sensibility. This is an outfit with a boundless future.” — Michael Saulman, Gashouse Radio (Oct 14, 2016) "There’s an original voice at work here, sly and sophisticated without being too self-conscious. If you want a date-night cocktail of real NOLA flavors, fizzy and giddy enough to seduce whomever you’re giving the side eye to, spin them around to this. It deftly sidesteps the hard sell.” — Robert Fontenot, Offbeat Magazine "One of the band’s most important ingredients is a sense of humor, but they never play the material or the genre as a whole for laughs. Instead, the band’s songwriting humor relies on discovering the absurdity in life rather than pursuing gimmickry and novelty.” — Lance Wright, Indiemunity (Oct 14, 2016) "Jon Roniger and The Good For Nothin' Band's "Maniac World" strikes notes of the familiar, but overall, it’s quite unlike anything you’ll hear. It's an impressive debut that sets the band up nicely for the future and establishes a very flexible musical template that shows no limits about where they can take it." - https://www.livejazz.dk/concerts/jon-roninger-and-the-good-for-nothing-band--72235

Vesperata in Diamantina, Real Life Immersive Experience, O que é? O que é? Gonzaguinha. Brazil

#vesperata #brazil #immersiveaudio Song: O que é? O que é? - Gonzaguinha "One of the most traditional and authentic events in Minas Gerais Vesperata has its origins in the traditional musical practices of Diamantina in the 19th century. When in the period of vespers, musicians performed on the balconies of the mansions to play for people walking in the streets. And what are vespers? Vespers is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, which is celebrated in the afternoon, between 3 pm and 6 pm. Cultural Heritage of Minas Gerais Recognized as an important event of tourism and culture in Brazil, Vesperata was awarded in 2010 by the Ministry of Tourism with the Roteiros do Brasil Trophy, for promoting Cultural Sustainability in the Municipality. With a repertoire full of good music and different styles, Vesperata is recognized as Cultural Heritage of Minas Gerais. In Diamantina, you will have the opportunity to watch one of the most beautiful musical shows of the local culture: The Vesperata that seems, at first glance, to be a serenade in reverse. Considered a “serenade in reverse” due to the fact that the musicians position themselves at the windows and play for the public on Rua da Quitanda, which is crowded with tables around the conducting maestros. Each presentation brings together more than a thousand people. The famous Vesperata de Diamantina, in addition to being a spectacle for the eyes and ears, is a source of pride for citizens of Diamantina. It is a unique event because nothing compares to the feeling of watching the presentation tasting a good wine, or, if you prefer, the famous cachaça from the North of Minas Gerais." - https://www.pousadadogarimpo.com.br/noticias-do-blog/temporadas-vesperata-diamantina/

Above all, it is worth highlighting his staunch defence of Sacromonte as a cultural and artistic neighbourhood, which he always valued, continually denouncing the neglect to which it was subjected by the institutions (his episodes of protest against politicians are well-known). Inside Margravial Opera House Bayreuth with Backstage Access - Unesco World Heritage - Germany

"A masterpiece of Baroque theatre architecture, built between 1745 and 1750, the Opera House is the only entirely preserved example of its type where an audience of 500 can experience Baroque court opera culture and acoustics authentically, as its auditorium retains its original materials, i.e. wood and canvas. Commissioned by Margravine Wilhelmine, wife of Frederick, Margrave of Brandenburg–Bayreuth, it was designed by the renowned theatre architect Giuseppe Galli Bibiena. As a court opera house in a public space, it foreshadowed the large public theatres of the 19th century. The highly decorated theatre’s tiered loge structure of wood with illusionistic painted canvas represents the ephemeral ceremonial architectural tradition that was employed in pageants and celebrations for princely self-representation. Outstanding Universal Value Brief synthesis The 18th century Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth is a masterwork of Baroque theatre architecture, commissioned by Margravine Wilhelmine of Brandenburg as a venue for opera seria over which the princely couple ceremonially presided. The bell-shaped auditorium of tiered loges built of wood and lined with decoratively painted canvas was designed by the then leading European theatre architect Giuseppe Galli Bibiena. The sandstone façade designed by court architect Joseph Saint Pierre provides a focal point within the urban public space that was particularly planned for the building. As an independent court opera house rather than part of a palace complex, it marks a key point in opera house design, foreshadowing the large public theatres of the 19th century. Today it survives as the only entirely preserved example of court opera house architecture where Baroque court opera culture and acoustics can be authentically experienced. The attributes carrying Outstanding Universal Value are its location in the original 18th century public urban space; the 18th century Baroque façade; the original 18th century roof structure spanning 25 metres; the internal layout and design of the ceremonial foyer, tiered loge theatre and stage area including all existing original materials and decoration. Criterion (i): The Margravial Opera House is a masterwork of Baroque court theatre architecture by Giuseppe Galli Bibiena in terms of its tiered loge form and acoustic, decorative and iconological properties. Criterion (iv): The Margravial Opera House is an outstanding example of a Baroque court theatre. It marks a specific point in the development of opera houses, being a court opera house located not within a palace but as an urban element in the public space, foreshadowing the great public opera houses of the 19th century. Integrity The elements necessary to express outstanding universal value are included within the property as one sole building and are intact and in good condition. No adverse effects are expected to occur and an overall conservation and restoration plan has been approved by the State Party. Authenticity Most of the building and the decorative programme of the loge theatre remain unchanged. Adaptations were due to regulations for fire safety in public buildings and requirements in line with the contemporary use of theatres. The highly unified Baroque work can still be appreciated. The survival of the interior materials of wood and canvas enable the opera house’s original acoustic quality to still be appreciated, and testifies to the authenticity of the property as an 18th century opera house. Protection and management requirements The property is protected at State level by the Bavarian Law for the Protection and Preservation of Monuments (1973, 2007). It is also protected by inclusion on the List of Monuments of Bayreuth under the Bayreuth City Civic Statutes and Ordinances. The buffer zone has been agreed and established with local authorities and its historic buildings are included in the Bayreuth Monuments List. The Management authority is the Bavarian Palaces Department. Implementation of the Management Plan is guaranteed by a steering group including the Bavarian Palaces Department; the City of Bayreuth; the Upper Franconia regional government; the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Arts; the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and Historic Buildings, and ICOMOS Germany. As a result of research, experience and consultations the impact of visitors and events has been regulated by the Bavarian Department of Palaces. Effective measures have been established to control the number of visitors and frequency of events which will be exclusively limited to the summer period after the restoration program is concluded. A 'Mojo' is an amulet, a kind of love talisman, worn to attract a true soul mate or lover. When the band has finished playing, DJs take over, and the dance floor stays packed with a happy crowd all night long. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. The main stage of the opera seats an audience of 1400. The Opera House is clad with southern German Jura Gelb limestone, and the foyer features Sicilian Perlatino marble. The wall of the auditorium facing the foyer is clad with maple wood, and the ceiling in the main auditorium is adorned with 105,000 sheets of 24-carat gold leaf, equivalent to 1.5 kilos of gold. The Opera features two architectonic elements under an extensive roof: A light foyer building comprising an audience auditorium and a heavier back building with the studio stage (seating 200), various rehearsal rooms for choir, orchestra, soloists and ballet as well as the 81 dressing rooms, workshops and administration. The building itself has an outside surface of Jura Gelb limestone. Canals have been dug to make the Opera look as if it were placed on an island just a bit larger than the building itself. The front of the opera was originally meant to have a large glass surface. However, as glass does not age well, the front was changed to have a metal grid in front of it. The foyer floor is Sicilian Perlatino marble. The wall of the auditorium towards the foyer, and the wood of the balconies, is maple wood. The ceiling inside the auditorium is made using 105,000 sheets of gold leafs, almost 24 carat (100%)." - https://architectuul.com/architecture/the-copenhagen-opera-house

Originally opening its doors as a coffee house: intended as a cultural meeting place for artists and mavericks alike, the Troubadour quickly became accredited as a West London institution; beckoning artists, poets, writers, musicians and advocates from all over the world, and was a cornerstone venue in the British folk revival. After an inspired visit to the Troubadour in it's early years, a young Doug Weston would ret n to West Hollywood from his trip to England and open his own Troubadour in 1957 - which would see its own role of importance in the Laurel Canyon scene and subsequently the American pop-culture of the 60's and 70's. Like us, the Troubadour West Hollywood would go on to influence the rest of the world. It played a formidable role in the launching of the careers of: Jackson Brown, Neil Diamond, Elton John, the Eagles, the Byrds, Carole King, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt and Tom Waits. ... In the rising sun of a new decade: the 1960's brought about great change in the London political and social scene. And as Chelsea's King's Road was leading in pop-culture and the Mod movement, British Jazz was also rising in popularity once again, and the Troubadour became a regular gig and hangout for London's finest Jazz musicians; most notable of players being Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, who played in 1961 - where he was "found" by Alexis Andrew Nicholas Koerner and was quickly recruited to join Blues Incorporated. Along with Mr. Watts, other greats of the British Jazz scene such as: Lionel Grigson, Michael "Spike" Wells, Mick Pyne, Dave Gelly MBE, Daryl Runswick and David "Happy" Williams all took the stage throughout the 1960's. ... In December of 1962, a young Bob Dylan made his maiden trip to London after being invited by Philip Saville to appear in Madhouse on Castle Street, a drama Saville was directing for the BBC. Before departing for London, Dylan's mentor, Pete Seeger gave him the instruction to seek out Anthea Joseph who organised many of the folk events at the club and was often credited as "the Manager" of the venue. The Troubadour was the first venue Bob Dylan ever performed in while in the United Kingdom and he did so under the pseudonym Blind Boy Grunt. Here he would meet fellow folk legend, Martin Carthy who taught him the traditional English ballad, Scarborough Fair. Dylan would later go on to write his own song Girl from the North Country inspired by the English balladeer's rendition of the folk classic. Jimi Hendrix would perform at the Troubadour in the late sixties, after having moving to London to find popular success after he signed to ex-Animals bassist-turned-manager, Chase Chandler. Hendrix was introduced to Chandler in New York by Linda Keith - who was dating Keith Richards at the time - and together convinced Hendrix to move to England. The 1970's would see the decline of the British Blues Invasion and the psychedelic sixties sound: enter the birth of the blues powered hard rock and heavy metal. One of the most famous bands to come out of this era was Led Zeppelin who, after sell-out shows at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, would come back to the Troubadour and jam late into the evening and early morning. And in more recent years, keeping with tradition, the Troubadour has had the privilege of seeing new, fresh faces, such as Adele, Ed Sheeran, Morrissey and Paolo Nutini come through on their way to topping the worldwide pop charts. The Troubadour proudly still hosts live music seven days a week." - https://www.troubadourlondon.com/history ""A really cool rock band" - Iggy Pop. Seebühne, Bregenz, Austria 🇦🇹, Dismantling of the Stage

"Dismantling of the stage set of the Bregenz Festival will last until the end of October

The first step will be to dismantle the approximately 300 loudspeakers used in the "Freischütz" stage set. In addition, all spotlights must be removed and cables removed, explained Wolfgang Urstadt, Technical Director of the Bregenz Festival. Everything that can be reused will be secured. Costumes and props are usually sold off. Then, the chainsaw and grinder will be used.

Up to 60 employees are involved in the demolition of the stage set, which cost a total of around eight million euros, and is scheduled for completion by the end of October. Construction of the new stage set for 2026 and 2027 will then begin in the festival's assembly hall." SWR - https://lnkd.in/dpfXqxvu.

"Technical equipment is being dismantled

Around 60 people are involved in the dismantling process. 66 loudspeakers alone were installed as part of the stage set, along with kilometers of cabling and large, hydraulically operated elements. To make way for the next opera production, all of this equipment must be professionally dismantled and stored.

"Because, of course, it's always different," explains Matthias Zuggal, the deputy head of the lighting department. "Every production has a different lighting design, a different concept. Different types of spotlights are used, and they are positioned differently. The requirements for the stage designers are also completely different, since the stage set looks different each time. So, it's designed anew every time and requires different equipment. That's why we can't just leave it all in place."

"It's always a complex undertaking"
Construction of a new, spectacular set is scheduled to begin as early as the end of October. "It's always a complex undertaking, and La Traviata will be no exception," reveals Urstadt. "It will look completely different. The overall impression will be something entirely different from what people have seen here during the last two years with 'Der Freischütz.'"" - ORF - https://lnkd.in/dhQqga7f
