"During its 10 years of existence, Porta–Jazz Association produced more than 1000 concerts, in an uninterrupted and weekly activity, released more than 50 discographic editions through its editorial project Carimbo Porta–Jazz and organised numerous artistic residences and workshops. A great part of this activity takes place in Sala Porta-Jazz, a permanent residence venue that allowed the association to become a pole of convergence of musicians and interested public. This is a movement that enriches the activity of the musicians established in Porto, Portugal and, for this very reason, welcomes musicians from all over the country and the world. "The Porta-Jazz association has just announced that it will have a permanent space. The new space will be located in Praça da República, in Porto, but it still needs renovation, so the Porto jazz musicians association is currently raising funds to transform the space. We would like to take this opportunity to share the information from Porta-Jazz:
«We will be back very soon and once again in the heart of the city of Porto, in Praça da República, in a space tailored to our needs, equipped with a concert hall, rehearsal rooms, a shop, an exhibition gallery... and even an outdoor space to, perhaps, schedule some wonderful concerts and gatherings in the future. The regular schedule that we have become so accustomed to still depends on an extra effort on everyone's part to ensure that the acoustic and safety conditions meet the standards required - we need to create soundproofed rooms, install a fire door, a fire detection system, and review all the electrical installations and toilets. Therefore, this letter also serves to ask everyone who can, for a contribution through the Porta-Jazz NIB, in order to materialize/complete the effort that has been made.
