"Monsters of Rock 2026 was a marathon of riffs, sweat, and emotion: review and photos
On April 4, 2026, at Allianz in São Paulo, we witnessed another edition of Monsters of Rock, which was full of surprises. The day was fantastic, and the audience was enthusiastic and ready to enjoy a day of great rock.
Jayler was the first surprise. The band's high-quality sound and spectacular stage presence, especially vocalist James Bartholomew with a firm voice and a range that resonated, energizing the entire audience that was still arriving at the stadium. I had already heard and seen videos, but live it was even better. A powerful, technical performance full of the overwhelming energy of the new generation of Hard Rock!
Right after, we had Dirty Honey, who left a great impression. The vocalist Marc LaBelle had plenty of charisma, winning over the audience by singing in the middle of the crowd. A powerful performance, full of groove, memorable riffs, and the classic energy of modern hard rock!
Changing the pace, Yngwie Malmsteen arrived, with his expected long solos, showcasing technique and talent to spare. Fans witnessed a fervent demonstration from this talented guitarist. Absurd speed, impeccable technique, and that neoclassical style that only he possesses—it was a guitar lesson from beginning to end.
Now, a band that energized the audience was Halestorm. Right from the start, they featured an impressive performance by Lzzy Hale, who delivered an extraordinary show with a powerful voice that captivated the audience and pleased the fans, along with her brother Arejay Hale on drums. The live performance of "I Miss the Misery" was powerful, intense, and showcased Lzzy's vocal delivery and striking presence. The audience was captivated from beginning to end.
Changing the atmosphere slightly, Extreme took the stage with a balanced performance. Gary Cherone entered with high energy that lasted until the end of the show. Of course, the highlight was the song "More Than Worlds," when the entire stadium sang along, enjoying the moment with Gary and Nuno Bettencourt, whose talent and charisma captivated the audience, adding a nostalgic atmosphere. A powerful, emotional performance full of distinctive musicality.
Finally, the long-awaited band arrived: Lynyrd Skynyrd. And they guaranteed the high point of the night. An emotionally charged performance that kept the audience engaged from beginning to end with a sequence of classic songs from the band, seemingly hand-picked to ensure the fans' delirium.
Johnny Van Zant brought a confident and captivating presence, and the crowd responded accordingly. The song "Simple Man" echoed through the stadium, a chorus from everyone present, along with "Tuesday's Gone," which brought tears and generated a strong connection and nostalgia for the band's tragic history. To close with a flourish, during the encore, they played "Free Bird," which featured images and the voice of Ronnie Van Zant, moving the audience and clearly demonstrating the grandeur and presence of Lynyrd Skynyrd. An emotional, intense performance, brimming with the classic soul of Southern Rock.
Closing the festival was the last show of the night, Guns N' Roses, who came out blasting with "Welcome to the Jungle," which had the crowd going wild right from the start. Axl Rose returned with renewed energy and a much better performance than the last time. We had moments of euphoria with songs like "November Rain" and also "Junior's Eyes," a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. Slash delivered a grandiose, emotional performance marked by the band's epic arrangements! In short, a performance full of attitude and the classic energy of the group!
Monsters of Rock delivered what was expected: seven bands and almost 12 hours of shows, in a festival that has been bringing big names from the world of Rock for years. Let's wait for the next one, hoping they'll surprise us with great Monsters of Rock.
