The dimensions of the Small Broadcasting Hall are: 24.24 m in length, 11–14 m in width, and 7.20–7.50 m in height. It can be accessed from the foyer via a small anteroom. The floor plan, like that of the other two broadcasting halls, is conical or trapezoidal. A gallery runs along the western long side on the first floor. A corridor runs beneath this gallery on the ground floor, connecting the foyer with the east wing. Double, and in some cases even triple, windows are set into the walls on both long sides of the broadcasting hall complex; these can be closed with curtains. The idea behind the multiple windows is to create an air buffer to absorb sound from outside. The longer narrow wall contains the control booth (also called the control room or listening room) on the ground floor. Above and beside the windows of the control booth are double-sided, door-like wooden panels. The side walls are also lined with these wooden panels, which can be folded down using hinges to dampen the sound. One side (wood) reflects the sound, while the other side (Celotex) absorbs it. This allows for the adjustment of various reverberation times. The ceiling, both above the gallery and above the actual broadcasting hall, as well as the floor, are also made of wood. All windows, doors, and the opening to the gallery can be completely closed with fabric curtains to alter the acoustics. The hall was formerly used for live radio broadcasts when recording and playing music was not yet possible or too expensive. For example, the inaugural concert of the building took place here on January 22, 1931. The hall is now used for chamber music, jazz concerts, and a variety of special events." - https://lnkd.in/dcyykRuB "The small broadcasting hall, Studio 3, is primarily used for music recordings today. In addition to fire safety requirements, the structural integrity, ventilation, and acoustics must be inspected. In consultation with the historic preservation authorities, the flooring will be replaced and the studio technology upgraded." - https://lnkd.in/dGpeFxSD #acoustics #architecture #audio #audioengineering #sounddesign #soundsystem #broadcast #radio #tv #immersiveaudio #musictechnology #signalprocessing --- πŸ“ Location: https://guitars4rl-map.blogspot.com/ πŸ”— LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-sound-travels/ Enjoyed the video?
